Monte de São Bartolomeu (classified as a national natural monument), which is locally known as “Monte de São Brás”, is an elevation of magmatic origin, of great historical and geological interest.

During this journey we will have the opportunity to observe the richness of the local flora and fauna, and above all to discover the legends and ancient stories, some written, others that are part of the oral tradition of these people linked to the sea.

This walk starts in the Parque da Pedralva area in Nazaré, goes up towards Pederneira, the population settlement that gave rise to the village in immemorial times, towards the road of Valado dos Frades, until the foot of the mountain, where we proceed to the ascent to the summit, 156m high, by stairs on the west side. At the top, a place with a privileged view over the surrounding floodplains, there will be a stop for a rest, a snack, relaxation and observation of the landscape and built structures.

The descent will be made along natural trails, surrounding the mountain on the south slope until we enter the millenary dunes covered by the Pinhal de Leiria. (D. Dinis. XIV century).
