Hello! My name is Miguel Castro (MAC) and I am the manager of INTERTIDAL® Outdoor Experiences in Foz do Arelho.
I have always been a frequent practitioner of outdoor activities, so it was a natural evolution to make them my profession.
I’ve studied marine biology, worked in scientific research projects, computer programmer. I also worked as a life guardian, done underwater archeology, diving, underwater fishing, martial arts, trekking, mountain biking, bushcraft and kayaking. I am a certified rambling & trekking guide, a certified Kayak Guide by the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, and a certified Geoguide, by the aspiring Geoparque Oeste (UNESCO), and Level 1 Canoeing Coach, FPC / IPDJ.
Although I lived in several places during my life, I am “local” of Foz do Arelho, so I grew up here, which allowed me to accumulate local experiences and knowledge that will make your experiences with us, unique.

Hello, I am Annelies. I was born in the Netherlands but lived the majority of my life in other countries with more wild nature and mountains.
Since 2018 I live in Portugal near the Lagoa de Óbidos.
At Intertidal I am a kayak guide and I take care of reservations and boat rentals. I really like seeing people enjoying and learning about the lagoon. In Scotland I worked as an occupational therapist and at Intertidal I also implement adapted nautical activities.
I run my own accessible holiday home, nearby at Nadadouro – Casa da Annelies.

I’ve aquired the taste by the outdoors and adventure in my youth with the Scouts, where I am still a trainer. I am an amateur dive practitioner, MTB orienteering, with expert level skills in rope maneuvering. Currently I am more dedicated to bushcraft and survival techniques, being the organizer of “Perduros”, one of the reference events promoted within this concept.

From a young age, an apprentice and promoter of all kinds of skills that enable an integrated experience in nature, sustained by the use of its resources. I am a geologist by profession, but I consider myself a naturalist who is mainly in love with ethnobotany and primitive technologies. Founder of the Portuguese Bushcraft forum and the first youtube channel on this topic in Portugal. Instructor of survival techniques and trekking guide since 2008. Frequent attendant as instructor and student of survival courses in Portugal, Scotland and Spain, and with various training and experience in Canyoning, Speleology, Canoeing, Autonomy Trekking, Backpacking Travel, and Vertical works.

Valter Vaz is a professional sports and adventure professional with experience of more than 25 years in various areas, including scouting, ocean swimming, military, humanitarian missions in Africa, expeditions on various continents in motorcycle and All Terrain Vehicles, kayak, mountaineering , caving, survival instruction and 4×4 off-road instruction.

I am a simple person whose ultimate goal is to fight for life, for happiness, for Good.
I have a master’s degree in Medicine and training in Advanced Cardiovascular (ACLS), Trauma (ITLS Advanced) and Wilderness (AWLS) Life Support, in Minor Surgery, among other areas.
I practiced Internal Medicine from 2016 to 2018 and currently am specializing in General Practice and Family Medicine.
I am an enthusiast and practitioner of adventure, self-defense, shooting and survival.
